Whether or not good looks played a role, I don’t think they should have. Sure, the world isn’t perfect, but I’m damn sure going to argue with anyone who tries to say that I should accept it, because that’s the way it is. It’s wrong that someone should get a job like that based on their looks. Just wrong.

Whether or not it’s intended that way, the net result is that it detracts from the brilliant job Amanda did, Joanne’s achievements and accomplishments, and frankly, it makes you look bad too.

I still disagree with what you said, and think you were wrong to say it. But, to me at least, the fact that you said it under your real name, openly and publically, gives me a lot more respect for you than I would have on an anonymous blog.

My personal rule is not to say anything online that I’m not willing to stand behind in public. After all, if I don’t believe it enough to admit that I said it – in jest or otherwise – I think it’s time to reconsider whether I should say something at all.

Amanda and Joanne could be the most competent vlog-anchorwomen in the world, but my guess is that good looks played a decisive role in their choice. However, Amanda appealed to geeks (boys and girls alike) because of her style and humor, and only in small measure because of her looks. As for Joanne, I guess we’ll see.

And no, I’m not seriously suggesting that Joanne be let down and Mélissa hired in her place. I happend by chance on her pictures, found her stunningly beautiful and wanted to point that out. This is not intended to detract from Amanda or Joanne in any way.

Anyway, I agree that Linus would have been a better choice than me. Probably he wasn’t available at the time
