Accommodation in Munich

Well, I got the email today, to say there was a place reserved for me in the “Dormitory Oberwiesenfeld”, as an Erasmus student at the LMU, Munich.

Quite what got lost in translation, I’m not sure, as it turns out that this dormitory is actually a block of apartments – CAD models are here. I’m not sure if I’ll have a balcony, but I’ll certainly have my own bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. Yes, that little corner is the kitchen – and with usual German class, the bathroom is only accessible via the kitchen… The mind boggles. It does look good tho, and it’s most reassuring to know I have a place to live.

Ger is in Munich now – he’s fallen in love with a local, so he’s spending the summer there. It’s great to have someone to pester about the various little bits they don’t tell you on the official pages. Apparently the location of the apartments is good – one change on the U-Bahn from the uni, but that’s ok, as the U-Bahn is co-ordinated pretty well.

I’m actually starting to look forward to all this now! Yay!

Hi! Today I got the same e-mail which sent in 29th July.I will stay in Oberwiesenfeld too, but I will share my room with anyone else.I will have kitchen and bath & wc but I don’t know if the room is in the building or in a bungalow, and I am not sure which is better.
I saw -via web- there are lots of dormitories in different areas, however I cant understand from the web site, which one is closer to Juristische(Law) Facultat and the features of rooms with prizes.
An other important thing is that, if we will be able to change our rooms, dormitories or roommates after a while.
    Does anyone knows the answers?
    See u!
